Sediment & Silt Filter Bags

Silt Filter Bags, sometimes referred to as Sediment Bags or Dewatering Bags are an effective solution to containing sediments and silts discharged from a range of dewatering and over pumping applications. 

The neck of the filter bag allows for the discharge pipe to be placed inside the silt bag and secured with the supplied tie.

Manufactured in the UK by Murlac from a 100% virgin polypropylene needle-punched geotextile these are a heavy duty, yet lightweight solution to trapping silts down to 60 microns.

Silt Socks

Silt Socks are manufactured from the same heavy duty filter fabric as our Silt Dewatering Bags, however are designed for placement on smaller discharge pipes with less sediment containment capacity.

Murlac Silt Filter Bag Placement Guide

  • Place the Filter Bag on a flat surface and unfold. Place the disharge hose inside the neck, unsuring that no sharp ends can puncture the material. Secure the neck tightly around the pipe using the supplied tie.
  • DO NOT over-inflate the filter bag. Once the filter bag is full of water and silt, stop pumping and allow for the water to drain freely until only silt and debris is present in the bag.
  • Commence filling of the Filter Bag and check again that the neck and tie are secure. Use additional ties if required. Check the water passing through the bag is clear. If not, contact Murlac to discuss flocculation.
  • Continue to use he filter bag until it is full of silt and debris. Leave to dry and dispose of, in accordance with your waste management and disposal plan.
