Sediment Mats are a cost effective solution designed to reduce turbidity, erosion and trap suspended sediment in ditches and shallow water courses.

The sediment that passes over the silt mat is captured by the 100% bio-degradable high strength natural coir, hessian fibres, and virgin spruce-wood filling.

Murlac Sediment Mat Placement Guide

  • Placement is dependant on what silt needs controlling. In most cases, performance is optimal where static water flow energy is low where silt deposition may naturally occur.
  • Murlac Sediment Mats will begin to manage the sediment immediately. Once the quantities of silt are under control, remove weights or stakes and roll the mat up for disposal. Or leave in place if suitable.
  • Unfold the Murlac Sediment Mat and cover the channel width. You can overlap your Murlac Sediment Mats to ensure there are no gaps. Once deployed, hold in place either with local materials or stakes.
  • Avoid disposal costs by gaining permission to leave the Sediment Mat on-site. Sediment laden mats are suitable for seeding if used on the land.
