Dredging & Silt Removal

Our wide range of equipment and specialist team will provide the perfect solution for silt removal and management.

Specialist Dredging & Silt Pumping Equipment

We own, maintain and operate a wide range of modern machinery with exceptional performance. We own the UK’s only Stage 5 suction dredgers of their kind which compared to similar size systems provide the safest, most environmentally friendly, and cost-effective solution to silt and sediment removal.

In addition to these suction dredgers, we own amphibious machinery suitable for working in and around the water. Capable of excavation and silt pumping, along with aquatic weed cutting and collection, immediately enhancing visual aspects of the area.

Certifications

Protecting the environment is one of our top priorities at Murlac. We work closely with regulatory bodies to ensure all relevant environmental controls and permits where required, are in place. These are used to make sure that all works are done to minimise our environmental footprint and reduce any potential risks to wildlife, infrastructure and residential areas.

We also complete waste exemption applications, once we have received the classification back from our testing laboratories, we then move forward to acquire waste exemptions that will allow the correct disposal of dredged waste.

Silt Assessments

Testing & analysing sediment and silts are carried out in UKAS accredited testing laboratories with waste classification reporting if required. Often, we recommend a silt survey so that we can determine the most cost effective and safest way to manage the silt.

To ensure our clients are provided with the most accurate quotation, Murlac can carry out in-depth bathymetric surveys using our industry-leading equipment, either electronic or manual methods.

 Silt Management – GeoBunds

The effective management of dredged silt is key to the success of every project. Murlac utilises a range of silt management solutions to achieve this.

GeoBunds are a cost effective solution and ideal for spacious areas.

Our GeoBund captures and prevents the dredged sediment from returning to the lake, river or any other watercourse nearby that we work on. During this process the captured silt is then left to dry out.

Silt Tubes

Murlac manufactures its own Woven and Non-woven Silt Dewatering Tubes in a range of sizes to capture and dry silt.

Sediment laden water is pumped into the Silt Tubes, with the silt captured within the tube and clean water returned to the watercourse.

Silt Tubes are ideal for confined spaces, and where hazardous silts require further treatment.

All of our Silt Tubes have design calculations, to ensure maximum safety when desilting.
