Using our own dredging equipment, pumping systems and sediment-management products, we manage the complete process from survey and sediment testing through to removal, dewatering and final disposal or reuse.
More Than Simply Removing Silt
Dredging is only one part of a successful sediment-removal project. Once material has been removed from the waterbody, it still needs to be transferred, contained, dewatered, tested and managed through an appropriate disposal or reuse route.
Murlac considers the complete sediment journey before work begins. We assess the waterbody, site access, sediment characteristics, pumping distance, available dewatering area, return-water arrangements and environmental controls.
This allows the dredging method and the sediment-management system to be developed together. Depending on the site, the solution may include cutter-suction dredging, amphibious equipment, remote underwater plant, floating pipelines, booster pumps, silt tubes, filter bags or mechanical dewatering.
By operating our own dredging equipment and manufacturing many of the supporting sediment-control systems in-house, Murlac can provide a coordinated service from initial investigation through to completion.

Choosing the Right Dredger
Murlac specialises in cutter-suction and pumped sediment removal. The dredger and supporting equipment are selected around the water depth, sediment type, access, pumping distance, dewatering area and required output.
Larger or more complex projects may use more than one machine, allowing the main dredging area, shallow margins and restricted locations to be managed efficiently.

Dino Compact Cutter-Suction Dredger
A compact hydraulic dredger suited to estate lakes, ponds, fisheries, canals and restricted waterbodies. The cutter head loosens accumulated sediment before pumping it through a floating pipeline to the selected dewatering area.

IMS Cutter-Suction Dredger
A larger cutter-suction dredger for quarry lagoons, reservoirs, marinas and higher-volume projects requiring increased working depth, pumping capacity and production.

Conver Amphibious Sediment Removal
An amphibious machine able to work across shallow water, soft ground and marginal areas. Fitted with a dredge pump, it can target sediment within channels, reed margins and locations that are difficult to reach with conventional floating equipment.

Remote Tracked Underwater Dredger
A remotely operated tracked dredger that travels directly across the bed of the waterbody. It is suited to defined deposits, restricted areas and locations around structures where surface equipment has limited access.

TriFlo Dewatering Plant
A compact sediment-processing plant that receives pumped slurry and separates free water from the retained solids. It is suited to projects where available land is limited or more continuous processing is required.

Silt Dewatering Tubes
Large geotextile tubes receive pumped sediment slurry, retain the solid material and allow water to drain through the permeable fabric. They provide a practical dewatering option where sufficient land is available for staged filling and consolidation.
Understand The Project Before Dredging Begins
Reliable information at the outset allows the dredging method, equipment and sediment-management process to be developed on a realistic basis.
Murlac can assess the waterbody, establish approximate water and sediment depths, review access and identify the likely volume of material to be removed. Where required, representative sediment samples can also be collected for laboratory testing to support waste classification, disposal planning or potential reuse.
On sites with deep or very soft deposits, manual probing from a workboat can provide useful information about the top of sediment and the firm bed beneath it.
This early investigation helps Murlac develop a practical project plan covering dredging, pumping, dewatering, environmental controls and the route for the recovered material.

We review the waterbody, select the most suitable dredging equipment and determine how the recovered sediment will be transferred, dewatered and managed once it has been removed from the waterbody.
Because we operate our own dredging fleet and manufacture many of the supporting dewatering and sediment-control systems in-house, the principal elements of the project can be coordinated by one team.
This provides clear responsibility from the initial assessment through to dredging, sediment processing and final completion.
A Coordinated Approach Throughout The Project
Murlac works with clients from the early stages of a dredging project to understand the required outcome, review the available information and identify the principal site constraints.
Once the methodology has been agreed, our team coordinates the mobilisation, dredging operation, sediment transfer, dewatering and environmental controls. Progress and site conditions are reviewed throughout the works so the equipment and operating method can be adjusted where necessary.
At completion, the recovered sediment is managed through the agreed disposal or reuse route, the dredging and dewatering equipment is removed and the working areas are reinstated.
This coordinated approach provides one clear point of responsibility throughout the project and allows the principal activities to be managed as a single operation.
